I’m Sergi Gassó, PhD in Biochemistry and Senior "hands-on" Consultant in In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD), with over 20 years of experience helping companies transform diagnostic innovations into real-world solutions — always focused on improving human health through impact-driven science and business.

As founder of Pragmatic Diagnostics and co-founder of Fuelium, I’ve led projects from concept to market, combining scientific depth, regulatory know-how, and strategic business development. My background blends technical leadership with business acumen, having worked across a range of diagnostic technologies and clinical areas.

My expertise includes both POCT and lab-based platforms, with hands-on experience in immunoassay formats such as lateral flow, latex turbidimetry, chemiluminescence, and magnetic particles. I’ve contributed to diagnostic developments in infectious diseases, cancer, Alzheimer’s, hemostasis, and drugs of abuse — notably leading the immunoassay development for Abbott SoToxa. I’ve also implemented full Design Control processes under ISO 13485, IVDR, and FDA QSR (21 CFR Part 820).

In addition to R&D, I’ve built go-to-market strategies, defined product positioning, and advised investors through technical due diligence. I often work during transition or growth phases, providing interim leadership and hands-on guidance to help teams unlock their full potential.
